High Action Rafting: Alaknanda + Upper Alaknanda
High Action Rafting: Alaknanda + Upper Alaknanda 2N/3D

Itinerary -

Day01:

Check into the camp by morning or early afternoon. Arrive at the camp, freshen up & relax for some time in the beautiful environs. Post relaxation there will be a briefing on the rafting techniques and safety instructions. After the briefing we set out on this river voyage. Today you will raft for about 25 kms from the camp till Devprayag. Today’s stretch will have rapids of class II – III and will help you get properly warmed up for the more demanding rafting the next day. You will raft through the confluence of Bhagirathi & Alaknanda which meet to form the Ganga. After the run we will drive back to the camp. Evening at leisure

Day 02:

After an early breakfast we will drive up to Gauchar via Rudraprayag (70 kms/2 hrs). This would be the starting point of our rafting trip on the Upper Alaknanda. Here you would again go through a detailed briefing on what to expect and then set off on the river. Today’s run will take about 5 hours (with breaks) and will culminate a few kms ahead of the confluence of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers in Rudraprayag. But rest assured that there would never be a dull moment as you navigate through a series of Class III+ and IV rapids through a fabulous landscape. There are calm sections of the river where you could body surf/float in the cool waters of the Alaknanda and take in the breathtaking scenery. Today’s run is what we would call a busy day at office with most of the time spent in scouting & navigating the rapids. End the rafting trip and from there drive back to the camp at Jayalgarh (1 hr). In the night, relive the events of the day by a bonfire, followed by dinner

Day 03:

Depart after breakfast/lunch. Trip ends here
You have the option of rafting on Ganga on your way down to Rishikesh

In the period Feb – Apr day time is going to be warm and very pleasant. The water is going to be moderately cold and extremely inviting. So you might end up spending more time off the boat than on it. Evenings are going to be moderately cold in Mar & Apr and cold in Feb. Night temperature will be around 17 -20 deg Celsius in Mar - Apr & around 12 – 15 deg Celsius in Feb so come prepared with some winter clothing

In May & Jun day time is going to be quite warm (33 – 38 deg Celsius). While rafting or indulging in any other water activity one will not feel too much of discomfort. Evenings at the camp can be slightly uncomfortable in June and are normally fine in the month of May. One will surely need a fan in the tents and dining area.

In the period Oct to Dec day time is going to be warm and pleasant if the sun is out, which mostly is around this time. The water is going to be cold but not freezing cold. A dip in the river is going to initially feel cold but couple of dips and you will start enjoying the water. Evenings are going to be moderately cold in Oct & Nov and cold in December. With a bonfire next to you it is going to be an enjoyable experience. December the night temperature can go down to about 3 – 5 deg Celsius so come prepared with some winter clothing.
